As the final project of the first semester of freshman year, this retreat incorporated many new concepts and further understandings from previous assignments. The assignment had a very specific process, strting by using geometry to compose three perpendicular, rectangular planes. Then, placing planes into a 20 foot cube (or five inches at ¼ inch scale) and extended the planes’ geometries to cut away from the faces of the cube and create interior spaces. I created spaces in the landscape by extending the geometries of the house to cut away at the 80' x 80' lot covered in 8' high hedge. The hardscape uses water, hedge, and gravel to serve the client's need for a lecture area, private garden, a driveway, and a view of Lake Erie, on which the site was located.
